For me, this photograph conveys a very peaceful, relaxed mood, mainly due to the gently merging colours in the sky, and the misty, slightly surreal quality of the water. The light has brought out a lovely, deep colour in the rocks, which adds to the peaceful mood. It's the kind of photograph that I am reluctant to look away from, because the overall effect is so soothing.

I love photographs which make good use of the Rule of Thirds, and this, to me, is a prime example. The top of the rocks is pretty close to the upper line when the photograph is divided into thirds, and I feel that this really helps to make the photograph really striking, rather than just pretty. The small tower, which I'm guessing is some kind of lighthouse (?), is almost exactly alligned with an intersection in the rule of thirds, which really focuses my attention on it. Overall, the composition of the photograph is very powerful and contributes to making this photograph so much more than just a shot of a beautiful view.

Another feature which I particularly like is how beautifully sharp and clear the horizon is. I like to see the horizon well defined and in this photograph it is crystal clear.

Looking at it again, there is one more thing that particularly strikes me about this photograph, and that is the texture of the rocks. They look so smooth and the texture is clear enough to look tangible.

Overall it is a lovely photograph which strongly conveys a peaceful, even blissful emotion. It actually makes me feel that if I could stand on those rocks and look out to sea, the stresses and troubles of life would melt away, for that moment at least. It's a lovely moment, beautifully captured.
